Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat visits KSRTC bus station

Mangalore. May 31: Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat visited the KSRTC bus station at Bejai on May 30, Monday.

 

Checking the premises of the bus station, Bhat told reporters that the KSRTC bus station was constructed in Oct 1, 1986 on 3 acres and 73 cents of land. The bus station has a ground area of 2628.70sq.m. while the first floor and the second floor is 840sq.m. each. Currently, the bus station has 18 bays with each bay having a seating facility of 75. Stating that the chairs are not in a good condition, he said that changes will soon be made and the bus bays will be broadened to hold 100 chairs.

 

 

He also said that the bus station is currently being upgraded and that the work will be completed in 2 months. He said that the cost of the renovation is Rs. 302.49 lakh, and the entire project is being implemented in 3 phases. Stating that the first two phases are now completed, he said that the third phase comprising electrical work and painting will soon be completed and the bus station will look as good as new in just 2 months.

He said that plans are being made to install western toilets for the benefit of senior citizens, adding that KSRTC is also introducing 10 more sleeper coaches and is doing everything in its power to give topnotch service to commuters.

Revealing the KSRTC’s plans, Mr. Bhat said that there are plans to start a private public participation (PPP) project at Bendoorwell at the cost of Rs. 20.7 crore, adding that the government has already approved the plan.

He urged the KSRTC authorities to maintain the toilets and keep them as clean as they had done on the day of the inspection.
