Dakshina Kannada reports 30 fresh Covid-19 cases; Udupi reports 20 cases on Sunday

Mangaluru, Jan 3, 2021: Dakshina Kannada district recorded thirty fresh Covid-19 positive cases on Sunday. With this the total cases recorded in the district since March rose to 32,978.

On Sunday, 19 more Covid patients recovered and were discharged, thus taking the tally of total discharges to 31,868. The district has 378 active cases. A total of 732 deaths have occurred so far.

The colleges in Mangaluru had admitted nearly 900 students, including 600 from Kerala, to their hostels. Out of them 77 students have tested positive and the results of a few students are awaited. The swab samples of all 743 students have been collected from these colleges.

The report of five persons who had arrived in Dakshina Kannada from the UK is awaited. A total of 118 persons have arrived in the district since November 21. The search is on for the two passengers who could not be traced by the department.

On the otherside Udupi disrict has reported 20 fresh cases on Sunday. The district has 96 active cases. 4 patients discharged on Sunday, thus taking the tally of total discharges to 22,820.
