Mangaluru, Oct 6, 2016: Four police teams have been formed to investigate into the recent robbery in the hose of Vasudeva Asranna, chief Priest of Kateel Durga Parameshwari Temple.
The theft had taken place on the night of October 3, Monday. It was reported that a gang of eight assailants armed with guns had threatened the occupants of the house and escaped with 650 grams gold and cash of Rs 30,000, totalling over Rs 33.5 lakhs.
Police have already questioned several suspects and are of the strong belief that the thieves might be locals as they were reportedly speaking in Tulu and broken Hindi.
Meanwhile, a cell phone which the robbers had snatched from one of the occupants of the house was found discarded in a nearby hill. It is believed that the thieves had well planned the robbery as they had completed their task within three hours.
In another development, some people from Venoor have reportedly seen a gang of ten in a Tata Sumo Gold vehicle on October 2, Sunday night threatening a petty shop owner and also kicking a closed door before leaving the place.
It is learnt, the petty shop owner had informed the Venoor Police about this. Sources say some people have even noted down the vehicle registration number.
