Mangalore, Nov 27, 2011: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) organized a protest in front of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) office on Nov 27 Monday demanding quick repair of the city roads.

In his protest address, Muneer Katipalla, the president of the district DYFI, said that the MCC has fully neglected the interior roads in Mangalore while focusing on highway development, owing to which people are facing a number of problems.

Stating that the condition of roads in Bajal, Panjimogaru, Alape, Katipalla, Idya, Jeppinamogaru, Vamanjoor, Urwa Store, Konchady, Kannur, and Shaktinagar is pathetic, he said that the MCC is least bothered about it although the people of these regions have holding protests. Stating that the roads are bad from several years, he said that this causes a number of accidents, leading to loss of life and property. Whenever a protest is organized, the officials concerned make false promises, he added.

The DYFI then submitted a memorandum to the MCC commissioner.

B. K. Imthiyaz, the president of the DYFI city committee, and Dayananda Shetty, the secretary of DYFI, along with activists such as Sadiq Kannur, Dinesh Vamanjoor, Santhosh Bajal, and others participated in the protest.
