Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 4: The people of Kavoor and Kuloor blocked the main Kuloor-Kavoor road on Jan 4, Monday under the leadership of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) to inform the officials concerned that the main road is badly in need of immediate repair.

Residents of Kavoor and Kuloor say that the road has been in a badly damaged condition for many years. Owing to its terrible state of disrepair, a number of accidents take place here leading to loss of life and property. Since the road is full of potholes, motorists and riders cannot take their vehicles on it. In spite of the pathetic condition of this road, the authorities concerned have not done anything. In fact, the authorities took 2 years to concretize a stretch of 1 kilometer. The remaining stretch of 2 kilometers has been left untouched. The officials just make empty promises that they would repair the roads, but do nothing, the people alleged.

Dayananda Shetty, the secretary of DYFI in Dakshina Kannada; Sunil Kumar Bajal; Ramesh Kumar; Anil D’Souza; Basheer Kuloor; Kanaka Das Kuloor; Navin D’Souza; and many other DYFI leaders participated in the protest.
