Mangalore, April 2: Six contingents of the police force, accompanied by the police band, celebrated Karnataka Police Flag Day and Welfare Day with two rounds of parade on the police grounds in Mangalore on April 2, Friday.

Retired Police Inspector Anasooya A, the chief guest of the event, inspected the parade on police jeep. Ram Nivas Sepat, IPS, the commander of the parade, escorted Anasooya. K M Ganapathi RSI, T B Sathish RSI, A Ravi RSI, Chikkaswamy Gowda PSI, Gopala Krishna Gowda PSI traffic, and Honnugowda PSI led the six contingents of police in parade. 

Calling upon the government to fulfill all the requirements of the police force for having devoted their lives to the maintenance of law and order in society, she said that this is the only way corruption can be eliminated from the police department. She also advised the police personnel to take care of their health. She said that better health improves performance and competence at the workplace. 

Advocate M Seetharama Shetty, the guest of honor, advised the police to be sincere in the performance of their duties. 

IGP Gopal B Hosur unfurled the police flag and presided over the event. Lauding the DK police for securing the first place in the maintenance of law and order in all Karnataka. He also informed that DK police has secured the highest number of medals for their service in the state. 

A dozen retired police officials were felicitated during the occasion. The Kinya Rama Rai Award was conferred on Gnaneshwara HC in recognition of his sincerity as a police officer. The children of police officials, who secured the highest marks in SSLC and PUC examinations, were also awarded. 

Superintendent of Police A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, welcomed the gathering and read out the annual report. Additional SP R Ramesh expressed gratitude.
