DK emerges as the state PU topper

Mangalore,May 24, 2012 : Dakshina Kannada has regained its top position in the state PU exam results after a gap of two long years.

DK had emerged as the state topper in 2007, 2008, and 2009, but lost its top position to Udupi in 2010 and 2011. This year, it has achieved the top position once again.

Several pre-university colleges in Mangalore are still waiting for the results, but students have already seen their marks online.

St. Agnes College

Sr. Shamita, principal of St. Agnes PU College, said that the college has secured 99 percent results. The college toppers are Andrea Gonsalves, who scored 584 over 600 in science; Floida D’Souza, who scored 580 over 600 in commerce; and Adira Thomas, who scored 536 over 600 in arts.

Speaking about her results, Andrea said that she scored 95 in English, 94 in French, 100 in Physics and Statistics, 98 in Chemistry, and 99 in Math.

Adira scored 96 in psychology, 88 in economics, 83 in political science, 94 in history, 82 in English, and 93 in Kannada. She said she wants to get a BA in journalism and then work for the IAS exams.

Floida said that she scored 93 in Hindi and English, 98 in Business and Computers, and 100 in Accounts and Statistics. She wants to do BCA.

Expert PU College
Of the 524 students who answered their PU exams from Expert PU College, 294 passed with distinction, 214 passed with first class, and 12 passed with second class. The college got a pass percent of 99.81 percent.

The topper is Sumanth N. who scored 589 over 600. He said that he has already answered his AIEEE and CET exams and wants to study electronics and communications in NIT-K in Suratkal.

Shri Sathya Sai Lokaseva PU College
Chidananda H. A. of Shri Sathya Sai Lokaseva PU College in Alike in Bantwal has scored 589 over 600. He wants to do MBBS or study science as he wishes to become a scientist.

G. M. Ananthamurthy, principal of Shri Sathya Sai Lokaseva PU College, said that, of the 156 students who answered their PU exams, 92 passed with distinction, 62 passed with first class, and 3 students got second class.

He said that Chidananda is the college topper. Akshay K. A. scored 585 over 600 in the science stream, Anish Hegde and Abhijith Chandrashekar Bhat scored 572 and 573 over 600, respectively, in the commerce stream, and Ajay Pandit scored 535 over 600 in the arts stream.

Shri Ramakunjeshwar PU College
M. Sathish Bhat, principal of Shri Ramakunjeshwara PU College, said that 11 students from his college scored over 500 and 85 passed with distinction.

National PU College
According to reliable sources from this college, the pass percentage for English is 99.92 percent and 100 percent for biology. However, one student failed in Sanskrit, which is unexpected.

Principals of other colleges refused to comment till they receive the official results on Thursday morning.
