DK SP confident to motivate police personnel against June 4 protest

Mangaluru, June 02, 2016: The DK, Dakshina Kannada SP, Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase is taking steps to prevent the junior police personnel, planning to go on a mass leave on June 4 in protest against harassment and lesser pay.


sp pressmeet The SP is personally visiting all the police stations in his jurisdiction and holding discussions with the police personnel. The personnel from two police stations in the district have already promised to stay away from the protest.

Speaking to media on  June 1, Wednesday, SP said there are 15 police stations in his jurisdiction. Several staff members have filed applications seeking leave.

"Efforts are on to convince the police constables not to take part in the protest. The department has been striving to fulfill the demands of the police personnel. It is true that the police personnel have problems".

The department has initiated measures to set right the loopholes. It is not wholly right that the police personnel stage a protest demanding redress immediately. There are Maoist issues in parts of DK. The police personnel should understand that remaining away from duty will likely affect the law-and-order situation, especially in Maoist affected areas.

The SP lso said that measures have been initiated to provide various facilities to the police personnel in DK district. A sum of Rs 1.68 crore has been released in 2105-16 for the same. At least 50 police quarters have been repaired. Canteens have been opened to supply food products at a concessional rate to the police personnel.

The SP said there are problems pertaining to supply of drinking water and underground drainage facilities to the police quarters. "I have tried to solve the problems during my visit to the police stations," he added.

In Udupi :  Udupi SP K Annamalai said he has not received applications from the police personnel in any police station in the district seeking leave on June 4. The SP has personally visited each police station in his jurisdiction and discussed the issue with the personnel.

There are no reports on mass leave applications from the personnel of Coastal Security Police. In fact, there were rumours about Coastal Security Police personnel from Gangolli station seeking leave. However, they have been convinced to  work.

The salary must be rised to the police personnel as theirs is not a easy job . They risk life for he sake public.
