He was presiding over a meeting of the heads of various educational institutions in the district  at  Town Hall on July 29, Monday to sensitize them  on the need to check the spread of Dengue.

The DC said the school heads, students and staff should engage in the task of   destroying larvae and also take steps to prevent breeding of mosquitoes. The school children must be  sensitized on the need to    prevent water stagnation as well as to   discard water in any container which is found to have mosquito larvae. Parents must be asked to apply neem oil  or any other mosquito repellent to the children before sending them off to school, he added.

The DC said he himself would visit a few educational institutions along with the  teams that are already  entrusted with the responsibility of checking the spread of Dengue. The DC warned of penalty on any erring institution.

In case educational institutions find it difficult to destroy larvae found in large numbers, they can contact the MCC control room on the telephone number – 2220309 so that the MCC team can take up the larvae destroying work, the DC said.

MCC Commissioner  Muhammad Nazeer, DDPI Shivaramaiah, District Health Officer Dr Ramakrishna Rao and others were present.
