Mangaluru, Feb 20, 2015: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport, thwarted an attempt of smuggling gold by a passenger who had hidden it in his rectum. Gold worth Rs 18.90 lakh was found in his possession. He had a total of six gold bars weighing 700 grams.
The passenger has been identified as Mohammad Sharoon (22) hailing from SMB Lane, Kandathpalli in the city. He had arrived by a Jet Airways Flight from Dubai at 8.45 am on February 19, Thursday.
Further investigations are underway.
In an earlier case, DRI sleuths had seized gold biscuits worth Rs 16.33 lakh which too were concealed in the rectum of a passenger on February 3.
