Mangaluru, Aug 24, 2017: Corporation Bank Officers Organisation (CBOO) has organised a free coaching camp for job aspirants in the banking sector at its centre opposite Sharada Vidyalaya at Kodiyalbail in the city at 10 am on August 27.

Corpn Bank 2Satish Shetty, general secretary of the organisation told media on Aug 23,Wednesday, "The camp, a first of its kind from CBOO, has been organised in the wake of poor response from graduates from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, for a career in banking sector. Though the same sector offers job for graduates in agriculture as a field officer, not many local candidates evince interest in the same.

R K Balachandra, a trainer, said, according to the recent notification by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), as many as 3562 posts are lying vacant with the numbers expected to increase as many banks are yet to announce the list of vacancies.

Though Dakshina Kannada is known as a hub of banking, not many are evincing interest in banking jobs. It can be for different reasons, but the lack of awareness among the candidates appearing for preliminary exams is a major reason why a very few from the district are landing banking jobs.

Balachandra said, apart from attending the exams, the candidates must press the biometric machine to confirm their attendance. If they fail to do so, the answer scripts will be omitted from correction. Majority of the candidates lose their chance only due to this technical reason.

Moreover, the exams for banking recruitment are conducted in the alphabetical order beginning from Allahabad Bank, while the exams for the banks originating from the state like Canara, Corporation among others stand will be held later.

The applications have already been invited with September 5 being the last date to submit. The preliminary exams will be conducted on October 7 and 8, 14 and 15, while the main exam will be held on November 26. The results will be announced in December followed by the interview in January.

The first 100 candidates will be selected for the workshop. For enrollment contact- 0824-2422712/501, 9886649849 and 9844218283.
