Mangalore, Aug 3, 2011 : The first death anniversary of Victor Rodrigues, the Konkani writer, was held at Bendur Church Hall, during which his wife Celine Rodrigues released his first novel Bonglyanthli Khun and launched a fund in his honor under the management of Samanvaya. She also presented a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh to Dr. Pius F. Pinto, the managing trustee of Samanvaya, on the occasion.
The fund will be used to confer an annual award on someone who contributes to Konkani language and literature. Celine Rodrigues also announced that she had sold the copyright of Victor Rodrigues’ works to Samanvaya.
Dr. Edward Nazareth, a close family friend, expressed condolences on behalf of all.
A PowerPoint presentation on the life and death of Victor Rodrigues was shown. Relston Crasta proposed the vote of thanks; and Dr. Ronald Cutinha, the director of Samanvaya, compered the programme.
