Congress using my work without consent, says cartoonist Satish Acharya

Mangalore Today News Network

Kundapur, Nov 10, 2017 (DHNS): An acclaimed cartoonist has cried foul over Congress workers using his works on Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a propaganda material.

sathish acharya 10 nov 17"Dear @INCIndia it was unethical on your part to use my cartoons without taking permission & also erase my signature! @INCKarnataka," tweeted cartoonist Sathish Acharya on Thursday evening. The original tweet was retweeted by many. The act of the Congress workers has been attracting trolls on the social media.

Speaking to DH, Acharya said he came to know about the incident through screenshots sent to him by his friend on November 8. The screenshots suggest that the cartoons were featured in a hoarding put up by Bengaluru Central, South and North Congress district committees, in Bengaluru during some rally. The hoarding bore the name of the committees with the slogan "Bharata Naraluttide - India Suffers." Two separate cartoons on Prime Minister Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah were drawn by Acharya during demonetisation.

Acharya said that even though other parties use his works, they had spared his name in the cartoons. But, the Congress has erased his name from the drawings. "It is certainly the breach of my intellectual property. But, I am not keen on sending a legal notice to the party as it would be a waste of time," he said.
