Congress to take out torch light protest march to MIA on Nov 18

Mangaluru, Nov 17, 2020:    The Congress will be taking out a torch light procession from the Circuit House upto the Mangaluru International Airport on November 18, Wednesday as part of its continuing protest against the handing over of the airport to the Adani Group. Senior party leaders including  District Congress Chief Harish Kumar, former minister Ramanatha Rai and former MLA J R Lobo are among the many party men who will be participating in this protest.

 

Speaking to reporters at the party office here on November 17, Tuesday, District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai said the  privatisation of the airport and its naming after Adani Group is not acceptable. He also reiterated the demand to rename the airport after the Tulunad folk legends Koti Chennaya.

Mithun Rai also took strong exception to an act of the Airport Administration in replacing the Pili Nalike art work inside the airport with the Adani  logo and an elephant art work. He demanded that the Pili Nalike art work which reflects the culture of the land  be reinstated within 24 hours.

Former MLA Abhayachandra Jain was also present at the press meet.
