Congress stages silent protest ; accuses district administration of failure to tackle Covid crisis

Mangaluru, July 23, 2020: Several Congress leaders of Dakshina Kannada district staged a silent protest on the footpath in front of the Wenlock Covid Hospital on July 23, Thursday demanding action against private hospitals that refuse treatment to Covid patients. The party has also alleged that the district administration has failed to effectively tackle the Covid-19 crisis.
The Congress leaders have demanded that the authorities should make public the amount spent on Covid control in Dakshina Kannada district and alleged that the wrong policy pursued by the district administration was itself responsible for the death of over 60 persons.
District Congress President Harish Kumar, MLA UT Khader, former minister Ramanatha Rai, former MLAs J R Lobo, Moidin Bava, former MLC Ivan D’Souza, former mayors Kavitha Sanil, Shashidhar Hegde and others took part in the protest.
