Mangalore, Oct 20, 2011: The District Congress and the Youth Congress organized a protest against the power crisis in the state in front of the DC’s office on Oct 20 Thursday.


MLA Abhayachandra Jain said in his protest address that the state government had promised to provide continuous electricity when it came to power and has failed to keep its promise. He also criticized the current government for blaming previous governments for the power crisis and voiced his opinion that the BJP, which is on the verge of completing its 5-year term in power, had enough time to solve the power problem.

Regarding corruption at the state level, he said that the state government has made enough profit in almost every developmental project it launched. He alleged that the government will now use its ill-gotten gains to gain more votes. 


Speaking on the occasion, Farooq Ullal said that the state government has increased the price of milk, putting common people to a lot of difficulty. Kodijal Ibrahim, who presided over the protest meet, said that the state government is least bothered about the development of the city. Flaying Shobha Karandlaje, he said that she did not have enough money to make both ends meet when she came to power, but now she has property worth Rs. 300 crore. 


Mithun Rai, the president of the Youth Congress; Ivan D’Souza, the secretary of the KPCC; Lancelot Pinto; Praveenchanra Shetty; Mamatha Shenoy; Idhinabba; Farooq Ullal; T. K. Sudhir; and others also participated in the protest.
