Congress protests against LPG confusion

Mangalore, July 29: The district Congress organized a protest in front of the DC’s office today against the inconvenience and confusion created among the public over the government’s LPG gas verification process.

The Congress workers and leaders used firewood to fry papads and make tea to drive home the point that people will have to use firewood for cooking purposes if the state government continues with its policies. Later, Ivan D’Souza, the secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) distributed fried papads among the protestors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In his protest address, MLA U. T. Khader said that the BJP government has created a number of problems for women and children. He urged the food and civil supplies department to take strict action against dealers who are selling cylinders in black market. He also challenged the government to distribute LPG connections to people according to their rights and stop illegal gas connections. 

Khader also remarked that the BJP high command must ask all the ministers to resign and conduct elections once again. In spite of giving CM B. S. Yeddyurappa a deadline of 12 hours to submit his resignation, he has not yet resigned, but had stated that he will resign on July 31. 

KPCC General Secretary Ivan D’Souza had led the protest. 

Corporator Appi; Mamatha Gatty, the president of the women’s unit of the district Congress; Shashidhar Hegde, the former mayor; and Ashraf spoke on the occasion. 

Mamatha Shenoy, Kodijal Ibrahim, Sudhir T. K., Praveenchandra Shetty, Mithun Rai, Denis D’Silva, and many others participated in the protest.
