Congress organizes torchlight procession against power cut

Mangalore, Oct 22, 2011 : The Congress Party, DK district, organized a torchlight procession in front of the MCC office on Oct 21 Friday as part of its statewide protest against the state government’s failure to provide 24-hour electricity to the people as per its promise at the time of coming to power.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA U. T. Khader said that the BJP-led state government has done nothing so far to solve the power problem and condemned the BJP for pointing the finger of blame at the central government.

Ivan D’Souza, the secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), and other Congress leaders Mithun Rai, Shashidhar Hegde, Gretta Rebello, Lancelot Pinto, Nagendra Kumar, Praveenchandra Alva, Gulzar Banu, and Bhasker Moily also participated in the protest.

The torchlight procession was led through Lalbagh and TMA Pai Hall, before it ended at MCC.
