Mangaluru, Sep 28, 2019: Former minister U T Khader has said that the Congress strongly opposed any moves to divert funds meant for the welfare of the labourers towards natural calamity relief.
Speaking to reporters here, the Minister said doing so was tantamount to betrayal of the working class and reflects the anti-people stance of the government.
The BJP MPs of the state are not making efforts to pressurise the Centre to release flood relief funds ; the government has also not thought of taking a delegation to the Centre, nor has it convened an all party meeting, Khader said.
Replying to a question, Khader said he has not been an aspirant for the District Congress President’s post in the past and neither will he be an aspirant in the future. He said the party leaders would choose a capable leader.
He said he would request MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to convene a meeting of all elected representatives of the district and officials to discuss developmental issues.
