Mangaluru Feb 24, 2016: Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary said that Congress party has not won the expected number of seats in the Taluk and Zilla Panchayath elections. At the same time, he said the number of seats won by BJP has come down drastically compared to 2010 elections.

Speaking to the media at Congress office on February 24, Wednesday, Poojary said that the Congress won 53 seats in Taluk Panchayat  compared to 31 seat in 2010 while BJP which won in 68 seats in Taluk Panchayat elections of  2010 could win only 56 seats this year. These statistics are enough to prove that people   are with Congress party. The Congress will win the next assembly elections too with the support of the people, said Poojary.

"If we work for the betterment of the lives of the people, they will bless us with the votes," Poojary said.  Political parties should never be over confident of winning. It is a lesson to be learnt by both parties, he added. Though there are seven MLAs in the district , they lack co-ordination, he said.

Form 9/11 rules of Land Revenue Act and the Yettinahole issue have adversely affected the party in the district. The government did not solve these problems, it might have made people to think against the party and this  affected us, he observed. "CM has given enough freedom to MLAs and MPs. But what about the party workers? Poojary questioned. The result which we have got is due to the party workers, but CM has not identified them," Poojary added.

Deputy Mayor Purushotham Chitrapur, former Mayor Mahabala Maarla, former youth Congress president Arun  Cuvello, TK Sudhir and others were present.
