Mangalore, May 31, 2011: Addressing reporters at a joint press conference organized by MLA U. T. Khader and MLA Abhayachandra Jain at the office of the District Congress on May 31, KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza commented that there hasn’t been any development in the state of Karnataka after the BJP came to power. He added that the only achievement of the BJP-led state government is converting minority support into majority during its 3 years in power.

Speaking sarcastically, he said that the CM’s only achievement is using Operation Kamala to build a vote bank in spite of the various allegations of corruption against him. Although the Supreme Court has criticized the state government, calling it the most corrupt government, and although the CM is the most corrupt politician, he considers himself as the role model in the state, commented Mr. D’Souza.

Continuing the flaying, MLA Abhayachandra Jain said that the state government is only working to gain publicity, adding that the government has not touched rural roads, and even if it has, it has used funds provided by the central government. He also commented that Anna Hazare should have launched his anti-corruption campaign in Karnataka, where so many corrupt politicians run free.

Further criticizing the BJP, he said that the BJP has not established a single college or school in rural places, but has become infamous through its land scams, illegal mining scams, and denotification scams, which it considers to be its greatest achievement. He said that, although CM Yeddyurappa travels to Mangalore four times per month and spends government money staying in five star hotels, he does not have the time to solve MSEZ-related problems.

MLA U. T. Khader said that the CM has only succeeded in saving his chair, adding that the chief minister has killed a number of farmers after coming into power. Flaying Shobha Karandlaje, he said that people had hoped that she would provide good service, but she turned out to be worse that Eshwarappa, the former energy minister.

Praveenchandra, M. S. Kareem, Sudheer T. K., Ashraf, and many others were also present.
