Udupi, April 22, 2018: Speaking to media, Kaup MLA and Congress candidate Vinay Kumar Sorake expressed confidence of a victory over his opponent as he is purely dependent on the development mantra.

The former minister said that he is not unhappy about the fact that he was removed from the post of minister before the completion of his term. “I enjoyed (?) three years as a minister and the party has given me everything. I have no qualms. I am a sincere Congressman,” he said.

He said he was confident that Congress, not only in Kaup but even elsewhere, would emerge victorious in at least 130 Assembly constituencies. Most of the surveys held have thrown up optimistic results for the Congress. There would be no hung Assembly, he maintained.

He added that he would be filing nominations on April 23, Monday. There would be Congress members rally on April 21 at Heeriyadka followed by another in Shirva in the evening. He said he is not an aspirant for any post. He said he would only focus on the polls. He expressed confidence that the people in Kaup would surely choose him as their representative. Elaborating about the works carried out in his tenure, the MLA said that Kaup is upgraded as a taluk from town municipality. There is a need for a 100-bedded government hospital, Mini Vidhan Soudha and court among others. He added that there was no identity for Kaup as for every minute work, the public from Kaup had to come to Udupi. However, as the taluk status would enable all required administrative amenities, public should be happy for the convenience that has been made available by the Congress government.

He said the science centre which was proposed at the cost of Rs 70 crore should be set up. While 10 crore worth Government polytechnic college is also underway.
