Concerted efforts needed to check cases of sexual abuse of minors : District Judge

Mangaluru, Jan 04, 2020:  District Principal and Sessions Judge  Kadlur Satyanarayana who is also the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority has expressed his grave concern over the rising cases of sexual abuse of minors and stressed the need for concerted efforts to  check  the same.

 

 

 

 

 

He was speaking after inaugurating a district level ’Public Dialogue on Child Trafficking and Protection’ at the Netravathi Auditorium of DK Zilla Panchayat on January 4, Saturday. The programme was jointly organised by District Legal Services Authority, Kailas Satyarthi Children’s Foundation,  Spandana Belagavi and Zilla Panchayat.

Pointing out that children were facing neglect in society for various reasons, he said if poverty was one of the reasons for the problem,  richness too is a cause.  Children are going astray due to mobile phones and   substance abuse, he said  and urged elders to be sensitive and understand the psychology of children.

ZP CEO Dr R Selvamani presided over the function.  Senior Civil Judge Gangadhar A J, Juvenile Justice Board Chairman and Second Additional Senior Civil Judge M Anitha,  DDPI  Walter D’ Mello, District Health Officer  Dr M Ramakrishna Rao and others were present.
