Mangaluru, July 8,2017: The Congress government aims at defeating communal forces and providing good administration, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking after inaugurating the Mysuru Zonal level convention at Adyar Garden here on July 7, Friday, the Chief Minister exuded confidence that the party will win the next Assembly elections. Taking a jibe at the BJP, he said the party which had said that the Centre too would waive farm loans if the state waived loans, has now fallen silent.
The BJP which finds no issue to fight the elections, has raked up the communal issue by creating disturbances. They should realise that their agenda would not work here as Karnataka is not Uttar Pradesh, the CM said.
K C Venugopal, AICC General Secretary and in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka, who also spoke said the Congress Government in the state has put up a good show. He charged the BJP of resorting to politics in the name of religion.
KPCC Chief G Parameshwar in his address, said that the recent opposition exposed the mindset of some people who opposed the Iftar organised by Pejawar seer for no reason. There is a need to sensitize people on the dangers posed by such forces, he added.
Former chief minister Veerappa Moily, State Ministers Dinesh Gundu Rao, DK Shivakumar and others spoke.
DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai, Udupi in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj, Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader, District Congress President Harish Kumar , party MLAs and MLCs were present.
On behalf of farmers, the CM was felicitated for waiving farm loans.
