Mangaluru, Dec 11, 2017: Naman Ballok Jesu, Konkani Monthly in association with Infant Jesus Shrine, organized “COME & SING CARMEL CAROLS 2017”, their first Carol Singing competition on 10th December 2017 at 2.30 pm. The Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Mangaluru was filled with vibrant and melodious. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest and renowned singer Mr. Melwyn Peris by hoisting a Star. Mr. Elias Fernandes (Four Winds Communications), Fr. Wilfred, Superior, St. Joseph’s Monastery and Fr. Prakash D cunha, Shrine Director and Fr. Jocy, Editor of Naman Ballok Jesu were also present.

The Carmelite Brothers began the event by singing the first Christmas Carol. Then, Rev. Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues, welcomed the gathering, and wished the participants. Mr. Melwyn Peris later wished the participants well for their singing.

The Competition were in 5 Categories, and the winners were:

Religious Category: First Place – Holy Rosary Convent, Jeppu; Second Place: Asha Kiran, Jesuits

Under 18 (Konkani): First Place – Immanuel; Second Place: St. Michael’s Belloor

Under 18 (English): First Place – Team Rudolph; Second Place: Stars of Dominic

Above 18 (Konkani): First Place – Blue Angels Choir; Second Place: St. Cecilia

Above 18 (English): First Place – Misle toe Ring; Second Place: 11 Reindeers.

The Prize winners received, a certificate, a trophy, a cash prize and gift vouchers. The First Prize received a cash prize of Rs. 5000 each, and the Second Prize a cash prize of Rs. 2500 each. Fr. Pius James D Souza, Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues, Fr. Jayaprakash, Mrs Flevi Mascharenhas, Mr. Vincy Pinto, Anjelore and the Judges joined hands to distribute the Prizes and congratulate the winners.

The Judges of the Competition were Fr. Jayprakash, Mr. Edwin Sequeira and Mrs Ivy D’Souza. The event was compered by Fr. Prakash D Cunha.
