College student falls prey to marketing fraud

Kadaba, Feb 24, 2018: A college student from  Mapala village in Perabe village has fallen prey to a marketing fraud after being lured of a Smart Phone as a prize.

 

The student had received a call on his mobile phone a few days ago stating that his number  had won a  Smart Phone as a prize. A young woman  who called the student introduced herself as an executive of HHM Marketing Company of Bengaluru and asked him to claim the prize through VPP after paying the  shipping cost.

Accordingly, the student  had arrived at the post office at Alankar on Friday and had paid Rs 1600 as VPP charges. However, he was shocked upon opening the parcel which did not have a smart phone, but instead  had a pack of sweets, idols of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha and Kurma apart from an Aarathi plate.
