College Student arrested for swindling money

Mangaluru, Jul 24, 2017 : A college student from  Mangaluru was arrested by Barke police on July 22, Saturday for duping over Rs 50 lakh from other students.


The arrested is identified as  Vinod(22),basically from Sangli in Maharastra, pursuing his studies in Mangaluru. He is residing  along with his family in an apartment in Dongerikery.

Sources said that Sunil Shetty  Third year BCom student of his College had lent 3lakh  to Vinod on May 19. He had  promised him to pay the lumpsum within a week, as a proof he had given three cheques in the name of Bank in Carstreet. But as days passed Vinod  failed to pay but gave excuses.

Sunil grew suspicious and informed the police about the matter. Investigation revealed the fact that he had duped over Rs 50 lakh to many students in his College. But has been  gathered that the family earned their living by making Chapati’s.

He was produced before the court  and remanded judicial custody. Investigations are in progress.
