Mangaluru, Oct 09, 2015: Several Muslim organisations of the district under the leadership of the United Muslim Organisation staged a protest in front of the DC office here on October 8, Thursday against the Sangh Parivar and the Hindu outfits following the Cobrapost sting operation which claimed a nexus between BJP, Sangh Parivar and Hindu outfits against ’Love Jihad.’
Speaking on the occasion, Ashraf, President of the Organisation and former mayor said the sting operation has made it clear that the Sangh Parivar had used the ’Love Jihad’ just to create communal tension. He also alleged that on the pretext of Love Jihad several innocent Muslims had to face cases.
Ashraf further stated that the three leaders from the district who were featured in the sting operation video had ’stooped very low.’ He also wanted to know why no action is initiated against them by the Police Department.
On the Smart City project, he said Mangaluru first needs to be a Peaceful City before it becomes a Smart City. He said the protests by Muslim organisations will not stop until action follows against the accused leaders.
Jafar Siddique Faizi, a member of the All India Muslim Council in his address urged DK District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai to raise the issue in the Assembly.
Rafiyuddin Kudroli, UDF leader, Shafi Bellare, PFI State Secretary, Sayyed Ismail of Jamaat-e-Islam and others spoke on the occasion.
