Mangaluru, April 11, 2017 : The much awaited five-day Coastalwood Premier League (CPL) was inaugurated at a glittering ceremony held at Nehru Maidan on April 11, Tuesday by Vittal Shenoy, DGM of Corporation along with several other dignitaries who graced the occasion by releasing balloons in the air. Mahabala Maarla, former mayor administered oath to the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, eminent Tulu theatre personality Devdas Kapikad said he was happy to see the event organised on such a grand scale for a friendly cricket match. He also wished all success to the future heroes of Tulu film industry as well as various other fields. He further stressed the need for united efforts to promote Tulu language and culture.
Another eminent Tulu theatre and film director Vijaykumar Kodialbail, in his address urged all teams to play the game with the true sport of sportsmanship.
District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai also spoke on the occasion. Sharmila D Kapikad, Yogish Shetty Jeppu, Tulu theatre personalities Bhojraj Vamanjoor, Arvind Bolar and many others were present.
