Mangaluru, Apr 13, 2016: Minister for Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fisheries, K Abhayachandra Jain, said that coastal districts are not being successful in getting enough funds for development works.
He went on to say, "The people of Northern Karnataka have been successful in obtaining more funds, by means of placing a demand for separate state. But, even after being known for its intelligent people, districts of Coastal Karnataka are not getting enough funds for the development works necessary in the area,".
Minister for Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fisheries, K Abhayachandra Jain, speaking after inaugurating a seminar on the new historical perspective of the state at University College in Mangaluru on Apr 12 Tuesday, said that long ago, the coastal region was part of the then "Madras Presidency’ most of the places of Karnataka were under the princely State of Mysuru. "The districts were brought under Karnataka only later," he pointed out.
Jain further lamented that the incidents of manipulating history have been taking place these days and reminded that there is a need to tell the truth. Statistics Canada former Senior Statistics Adviser Dr B Nanjamma Chinnappa was the chief guest. Mangalore University History Department Head Prof Uday B was present.
