Mangaluru, Sep 07, 2019: According to city Commissioner of Police office, vehicles without number plates and vehicles with defective and fancy number plates were an offence. The Mangaluru city police have seized at least 115 vehicles without number plates during a drive launched in the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate jurisdiction.
“Vehicle owners should use proper number plates to prevent inconvenience. Vehicles without plates will be assumed to be used for illegal activities,” the commissioner said.
On September 4, the police had seized 75 vehicles without number plates, during a drive. On Sept 6, Friday, the police seized 40 vehicles. He appealed to the public to display the number plates on their vehicles clearly.
A hefty fine was collected from offenders, police sources added. Traffic offences are now seriously viewed.
