Christmas Sauharda Koota: Leaders call for peace, harmony, brotherhood

 Mangaluru, Dec 18,2014 :  Christmas celebrations can be meaningful when we love one another and  spread the message of peace in the society, said Dr Hannibal Cabral, Principal of Karnataka Theological College in the city.

He was speaking  at the Christmas get-together (Sauharda Koota) organised at the Milagres Hall in the city on December 17, Wednesday  by the Mangaluru Diocese Episcopal City Varado. Continuing,  Dr Hannibal said  we  must dedicate ourselves for the cause of the welfare of the society and defeat the evil forces.

Mohammad Kunhi, Director of Shanthi Prakashana in his  address said the modern day society which has all means of comfort is however devoid of peace contrary to the past when  people did not have much to boast of but lived in peace.

 Prof Prabhakar Neermarga, Deputy Registrar of  Mangalore University who also spoke said Christmas is a festival that spreads happiness and the message of brotherhood.

Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese said serving the poor and the under privileged in the society is as good as serving and worshipping God. He also urged people to follow the message of Jesus of “Sharing and Caring.”

A tableau presented by Mandd Sobhann and directed by Christopher D’Souza which was displayed on the occasion, conveyed the message of Christmas in its true spirit.

Anil Lobo, President of Episcopal City Varado, Dinaker Shetty, Circle Inspector and several others were present. Christmas carols were also rendered on the occasion.
