Mangaluru, Sep 30, 2016: Ganga Seva Mission President Swami Anand Swaroop has urged the Centre to intervene and drop the Yettinahole Project which is against the law of nature.
Addressing anti-Yettinahole activists here on September 29, Thursday, Swami Anand Swaroop claimed that as many as 95% people of Kolar are against the project which is nothing but a fraud.
The Swami who later spoke to reporters made it clear that he did not support any party with regard to Yettinahole. As the project has been taken up without any public hearing and without conducting environmental assessment, it has to be opposed, he said. He hoped that the Union Minister for Environment would stop this disastrous project.
MG Mayya, retired professor of NITK said the project will have disastrous effects on Western Ghats. Describing it as an unrealistic project, he said it was being implemented at the cost of environment for political reasons.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP of Dakshina Kannada assured all support to the movement against the project. He also suggested holding of a Ratha Yatra to sensitise the public on the ill-effects of the project.
Anti-Yettinahole activists including Dr Niranjan Rai, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty and others were present.
