Vittal, Jan 11, 2015:  Union Law Minister DV Sadananda Gowda has said that the Centre was committed to protect the interests of areca and rubber growers.

Speaking after inaugurating a Krishi Mela 2015 at the CPCRI at Vittal on January 10, Saturday, he said the Centre has allocated special grants  in the budget for stabilisation of areca prices whenever there is a slump in prices of areca and other cash crops. Such a measure has been taken to ensure that the growers do not resort to extreme steps like suicide, the minister said.
