Mangaluru, Jan 10, 2016: The theft of two cows at Nadupadavu near Konaje on  January 8, Friday has triggered a protest by local residents on January 9, Saturday in front of the Konaje police station demanding arrest of cattle thieves and steps to check cattle thefts.

On January 8, two cows belonging to Purushottam, a dairy farmer, were stolen. It has been gathered that the two pregnant cows were stolen by cramming them inside a Sumo which was stationed  in front of the house. The thieves were reportedly wearing masks. Though a complaint was lodged the police were neither able to trace the cattle nor the thieves.

Irked  over police inaction, locals  gathered in large numbers in front of the Konaje police station and set an ultimatum to arrest the cattle thieves within the next 48 hours failing which they would resort to a protest across the district.

Jagadish Shenava, District President of VHP, Praveen Kuttar, Bhajrang Dal leader and others were present.
