Catholic Shikshana Mandali celebrates Teachers’ Day

Mangalore, September 2: The Catholic Shikshana Mandali ® celebrated Teachers’ Day at Shanthi Kiran Hall in Nanthoor on September 2, Thursday. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, presided over the programme and said that we must be grateful to teachers. He said that he had decided to attend the programme in spite of illness because his absence at the previous year’s celebrations had hurt many teachers.

Managing Director of Qatar Meta Coats Felix Lobo and his wife Sefania Lobo were the chief guests of the programme. Mr. Lobo lauded the teachers and said that they are working hard for the country’s development. Claiming that he could reach great heights in life only because of his teachers’ encouragement, Mr. Lobo said that they should be valued. He also requested teachers go give value-based education to students and urge them to work hard. He concluded by briefly speaking about the achievements of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.

Secretary of the Catholic Shikshana Mandali Fr. Wilson V. D’Souza made the welcome speech on the occasion. The invocation was rendered by the students of Rosario Pre University College. A welcome dance was presented by the students of St. Aloysius English Medium School.

Student achievers, who had secured top marks in the SSLC exams, and retiring teachers were felicitated on this occasion.
