Mangaluru, Feb 08, 2020: Just one week after the inauguration of the Pumpwell Flyover, one person died while another seriously injured in an accident between a Duster and Alto cars in the flyover at Pumpwell on February 08, Saturday, 2020.
The victim is identified as Praveen Fernandes, aged 45 years. He is survived by wife and two children. Praveen Fernandes is a resident of Bajal and is the proprietor of Swagath Garage at Nathur.
A speeding Maruti Alto car, going from Nanthoor to Thokkottu, crossed the median and crashed into a Duster car coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the crash was such that the cars fell from the flyover to the service road.
The other person seriously injured is identified as Ramesh Mendon. The Renault Duster driven by Praveen was on his way to Nanthur when the Maruti Alto car going in the flyover lost control and fell on his car. The driver of the Alto car and two others have suffered serious injuries and are admitted to a hospital.
Police suspect that rash and negligent driving by the Alto car could the reason for the accident. Mangalore Traffic Police has registered a case.
