Udupi, Jan 02, 2018: Pedigree dogs of all shapes and sizes with their dedicated handlers and groomers gathered at Bhujanga Park for fame and glory on Dec 31, Sunday morning.
The competition, which was held as part of a three-day Udupi Parba, was intense. The variety of breeds that participated in the Parba enthralled the spectators. The competition was held according to their breed quality.
The models were hand-picked, right from the small stature of Dachshund to that of the large one of St Bernard. They had a wonderful time, showcasing their beauty and vigour, with a huge crowd cheering them. The contest was similar to any beauty pageant and the owners of the canines were eager to win as well.
Presenting themselves : The breeds had to run inside the circle that was arranged during the various rounds. The Indian and foreign breeds competed equally in the contest. However, the dogs were also seen fighting each other in the circle arranged for the competition and the handlers had to struggle to take them away. Some of them lost points in the run for the beauty crown owing to their ferocious attitude.
The beauties had a ‘catwalk’ in the beginning and displayed their intellectual abilities. The first-timers were naturally confused and their peculiar behaviour was associated with the unfamiliar ambience. The audience encouraged the dogs to show their grace and elegance. One of the fascinating parts of the day was even the smallest of the small breeds enjoyed attention with the creative smartness. Each breed and each individual dog was unique in its display. As it was a holiday weekend, the spectators were seen in large numbers.
Breeds : German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, Rottweilers, Beagle, Bulldog, Golden Retriever, Great Dane, poodle, Dobermann Pinscher, Dachshund, Siberian Husky, English Mastiff, Chihuahua, Boxer, Pugs, Chow Chow, Pitbull, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, St Bernard, Pomeranian, Bull Mastiff were the different breeds that stole the dog show with their classiness as well as their good looks generally.
