Mangalore, July 9, 2011:The National Disaster Management Authority of India and the DK district administration organized a mock drill, which helped 540 NCC cadets understand how to react in emergency situations, in the premises of Karnataka Polytechnic in Kadri.
The cadets were first briefed on the types of injuries that result from disasters such as bomb blasts and others. The fire department, health department, and emergency services department delivered lectures and demonstrations on how to deal with accidents, undertake rescue operations, fight fire, give first aid, and manage injured people.
The mock drill was so realistic that commuters and members of the public really felt that there was some emergency. Additional Deputy Commissioner S. A. Prabhakar Sharma expressed his satisfaction regarding the demonstration.
