Speaking on the occasion, V Kukian, District unit Secretary of the party described the ordinance as anti-farmer and demanded that the government withdrew the same at the earliest. He also charged the Prime Minister as anti-poor. The Land Ordinance Bill of the UPA Government in 2013 was in favour of farmers but not the present one with many amendments to the earlier Bill, he said.

He also launched a tirade against the  BJP government and slammed it for not keeping up its promises regarding black money and Acche Din.

Krishnappa, another senor leader of the party who also spoke, criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who he said had failed to fulfil the assurances given by him to the people prior to the elections. He also  lashed out at the  government for removing the consent clause in the Land Bill. “Where will the poor go once their land is acquired by industrialists?” he questioned.

Several CPI activists participated in the protest.
