Mangaluru, Mar 27, 2017: The district unit of the CPI(M) staged a protest in front of the DC office here on March 27, Monday to condemn the hike in the prices of essential commodities including LPG and also to protest against discrepancies in distributing food grains under PDS. The protest was also organised to urge the administration to ensure regular drinking water supply during summer.
Sunil Kumar Bajal, Secretary of CPI(M) city district committee and other leaders who addressed the protestors strongly criticised the Centre for increasing the prices of petroleum products despite the downward trend in their prices in the international market. He also deplored the increase in LPG prices which in turn has led to the hike in prices of several other essential commodities.
Referring to the severe water crisis faced in several places, the speakers also urged for measures on a war footing by the administration to mitigate the hardships of the people.
