Mangalore, Aug 6, 2012 : CPI (M) President Vasanth Achar inaugurated a 3-day jatha at the Central Market by presenting the CPI (M) flag to Secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal.

In his address, Sunil Kumar Bajal attacked the ruling BJP and said that BJP politicians and corporators have put crores of rupees in their own pockets in the name of development. Stating that the jatha will visit all the 60 wards in DK to identify the people’s problems, he announced a large protest rally on Aug 27.

Listing out the various problems in Mangalore at present, he said that the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has given the billing authority to a private company. Although the city’s roads have been concretized, the city still does not have proper footpaths and storm water drains. Although the old Lady Goschen Hospital building has been demolished, work on a new building has not yet begun. Although a Do No Litter Garbage Here board has been raised near the children’s ward of Lady Goschen Hospital, people are still dumping garbage right in front of the board, creating several health problems for new born infants. Flaying the MCC and the ruling BJP, he said that the CPI(M) will put an end to corruption and will fight for justice.

President Vasanth Achar said that the ruling BJP has changed 3 chief ministers for the past 4 years. Flaying the BJP, he said that the party is just as corrupt as the Congress party, and now that the mayor is from the Congress and the deputy mayor is from the BJP, both are playing with people’s sentiments. Although the Congress and the BJP criticize each other in public, they sit together in private and discuss how to share the wealth looted from the people, he said.
