CPI (M) extends support to Vittala Malekudiya: Prakash Karat

Mangalore, May 20, 2012: Prakash Karat, the general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), visited Vittala Malekudiya in the district sub jail in Mangalore on May 20, Sunday.

He later told reporters that the party will support Vittala Malekudiya and work for his release because they are sure he is innocent. 


The Anti Naxal Force (ANF), which arrested Vittala, says that they have proof of Vittala’s involvement with Naxals. 


Mr. Karat told reporters that his party will support Vittala morally and physically till he is released from jail, adding that the party will take Vittala’s case to the Supreme Court to secure the release of Vittala and his father.


Muneer Katipalla, president of the district unit of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), and B. Madhava, district secretary of CPI (M), were also present.
