CM inaugurates Udupi’s new DC office complex ’Rajathadri’

Udupi, Dec 26, 2011 : D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the chief minister of Karnataka, inaugurated the newly constructed DC office complex at Manipal and dedicated it to the public, on Dec 25 Sunday.

Speaking on this occasion, the chief minister said that he will rule in such a way that people will not lose confidence in him. Stating that Atal Bihari Yajpayee was born on this day, he said that he is happy to inaugurate this structure in the presence of his political mentors.

The chief minister also announced major decisions such as the conversion of the old taluk office block into a mini Vidhana Soudha, the introduction of 50 extra posts into the district, construction of employees’ quarters, approving the expenditure of an excess of Rs. 1.8 crore from the land revenue department for the purchase of vehicles and administrative purposes.

He also announced that one-third of the cost of constructing the Rajathadri – Kolalagiri Bridge has been released. This bridge, when constructed, will make it easier for people from Kundapur and Brahmavar to access Rajathadri.

Speaking on the occasion, Udupi District-in-charge Minister Dr. V. S. Acharya, expressed his appreciation of MLA Raghupathi Bhat for the active role he played in the establishment of Rajathadri, the foundation stone for which was placed during the time of CM J. H. Patel.

In his address, MLA Raghupathi Bhat expressed his gratitude to all those responsible for the construction of the complex, adding that the structure could be raised only because the government released the Rs. 7.65 crore required for its second phase. He also announced that the building will become functional from Dec 26.

Jagadish Shettar, the rural development and Panchayat Raj Minister, said that a platform has been constructed especially for the benefit of those wishing to organize protest meets at the venue. Admiring the architectural design of the structure, he said that honest officials who implement the government’s welfare schemes and serve the people bear the credit for the progress in the district.

 

Among the dignitaries on the dais were MLAs Lalaji R. Mendon, H. Gopal Bhandary, and Lakshminarayana; MLCs Shrinivas Poojary and Captain Ganesh Karnik; A. G. Kodgi, the chairman of the committee for implementation of the third finance commission recommendations; Katpady Shankar Poojary, the president of the ZP; M. T. Reju, the DC; Pratap Reddy, the inspector general of police (western range); Ravikumar, the superintendent of police; Ramesh Jhalaki; and others.


A cultural show titled Tulunada Vaibhava formed part of the event.


Later, the chief minister chaired a meeting held to review progress in the district.
