CM Siddaramaiah to inaugurate Narayana Guru study chair at MU tomorrow, Jan 19

Mangaluru, Jan 18, 2017: Reports inform that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate Brahmashree Narayana Guru Study Chair in Mangalore University tomorow,  January 19, Thursday at 2 pm.


Narayana Guru Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy will inaugurate the state-of-the-art hi-tech modular laboratories of international standards.

Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai will felicitate university sportspersons who have bagged records in sports for the year 2016-17.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs U T Khader will launch University Research Fellowship to research scholars who are not getting any fellowship. On the occasion, MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake will release a book on Brahmashree Narayana Guru.

Noted Kannada litterateur Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa, former Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi and Karnataka State Open University Prof B A Viveka Rai will release 19 books including three English books published by Prasaranga. The Prasaranga has a target of publishing 25 books to commemorate the silver jubilee year of Prasaranga. The Prasaranga has already published six books last year. Authors will also be felicitated on the occasion.

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa will preside over the programme.

Government of Karnataka has already given its approval to grant Rs 2 crore for the Chair. The Chief Minister will also inaugurate a new building of applied Botany department.

Sri Devi Kaladka and team will present ’Bhava Deepti,’ a musical programme at 12 noon. Children and Women Yakshagana team of Katipalla sponsored by Sri Mahaganapathi will stage ’Kamsa Vadhe - Agra Pooje’ Yakshagana show between 5 pm and 7 pm.

Gilivindu

The chief minister will later participate in the dedication ceremony of Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Memorial Cultural Centre - Gilivindu, at Manjeshwara, Kasargod district in Kerala at 3.30 pm. He will return to Bengaluru from Mangaluru at 5.30 pm, stated a press release.
