Mangaluru, June 13,2017 : Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi must resign if they cannot waive the loans of farmers, said senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary.
Speaking at a press meet at the Press Club at Urwa on June 13, Tuesday he said the suicide of farmers in the state and elsewhere in the nation is a great insult. He urged the CM to waive the farm loans instead of depending upon the Centre on the issue.
If the CM continues to neglect the interests of the farmers then it may be difficult for the Congress to retain power in the state, Poojary warned. Siddaramaiah can be a model CM if he waives farm loans and provides minimum support price, said Poojary.
He wanted to know why the CM was hesitant to waive farm loans and recalled how farm loans were waived when he was the Union Minister. He also pointed out that even UP CM Yogi Adityanath has assured to waive farm loans.
Regarding the note book distribution controversy revolving around Mangaluru North MLA Moidin Bava, Poojary said many poor parents cannot afford to buy books for their children.
On the issue of Mangaluru North MLA Moidin Bava printing his photo in note books distributed to students, Poojary spoke in a lighter vein and said probably Bava wants the students to know who their MLA is.
