CITU urges beedi workers to fight for justice

Mangalore, Jul 30: The CITU organized the DK District Working Women’s Conference as part of the International Working Women’s Centenary Day at Town Hall on July 30, Friday. CITU Samanvaya Samithi State Unit President S. K. Geetha was the chief guest.

CITU State Committee Vice President B. Madhava called upon all beedi workers to unite and fight against the injustice meted out to them. 


CITU leader Vasanth Achary also called upon the beedi workers to fight for minimum wages, increments, and bonuses. Listing out the various problems faced by beedi workers, he said that they must be courageous enough to fight against harassment. 


CITU district leader Bharathi Bolar spoke about the problems faced by women because of globalization and modernization. Speaking about how women employed in big malls are harassed and not provided any security, she said that women must fight against all forms of injustice and harassment. 


Corporator Jayanthi Shetty, Ravikal, Padmavathi Shetty, Girija, Janaki and Balakrishna Shetty participated in the programme.
