Further speaking about Navaras Utsav, she said that it will be a unique programme showcasing the talents of people from different sections of society with the objective of bringing people together through dance. Presented by Navaras Hobby Dancers Club, Navaras Utsav aims to bring together amateur artists from a wide range of backgrounds to perform on one stage along the theme “colors of India,” illustrating the rich and diverse culture of India. Groups from blind schools, orphanages, and old age homes, students, professionals, and housewives will all present their talents on that day, she said.

Abdul Basith, the president of CREST, said that in its effort to inculcate a sense of national pride and patriotism among youth and children, CIL will observe Kargil Vijay Divas by felicitated war veterans from Mangalore. Colonel N. S. Bhandary, Wing Commander Dev Rao Belle, and Brigadier N. Rai, who have experienced the Indo-Pak war of the seventies and have served the Indian forces on different fronts, will be felicitated on the occasion.

A unique environmental friendly CREST Bag project will be launched on the occasion to celebrate the first anniversary of CREST, which is the youth win of CIL. This project, which aims to reduce the use of plastic bags, will be launched by Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, the commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC).

CREST will collect old clothes and will hand them over to the inmates of the Mobility Centre for the Blind in Attavar. The inmates will then convert these clothes into shopping bags and will sell them at affordable rates in the market.

Greeshma, Shalmali Ghate, and Keerthi Mohan of CREST were also present on the occasion.
