Mangalore, Mar 1: The Campus Front of India (CFI) staged a protest against the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for protesting against Pattabhirama Somayaji, who supported the ban on cow slaughter, at Nehru Maidan on March 1, Monday.

Vice President of the Campus Front of India Nasir Mulky spoke about the recent boycott of classes by the students of University College. He said that the students were under the influence of government missionaries, because of which they were dragged out of the classrooms and forced to boycott classes. He called this an “attack on the freedom of speech granted by the constitutions.” He also alleged that the government is trying to dodge the blame by forcing students to organize protests.

Mohammed Shakir, the Karnataka State General Secretary, said that the students opposed a lecturer who openly expressed his views against Hinduism. He added that strict action will be taken against them if they boycott classes again. He alleged that the ABVP, which is considered to be the power of the students, is now breaking the power of the students. He assured that the Campus Front of India has been established to give back students their power.

Thousif Ahmed, the president of the Campus Front of India, Mangalore, and Harsharaj Gatty, the general secretary of PUCL, also participated in the protest.
