CBSE and ICSE toppers attribute success to hard work

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 23, 2012 : Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian School Council for Secondary Examination (ICSE) toppers say that their success is because of hard work.

Of the 130 students of Sharada Vidyalaya who answered their CBSE exams, 39 passed with
grade point 10, 11 with 9.8, 11 with 9.6, 7 with 9.4, 5 with 9.2, and 5 with 9.

10 topper

Kendriya Vidyalaya students who secured grade point 10 are Namitha Shanbhag, Shamitha,
R. Satyapriya, Tasswin M., Gulshan Kumar M., Santhishini, Anitha M. Hiremath, Swathi
Shivaram, Shrividya Praveena, Shreyas Shet, Lakshmi Aparna, K. Charumathi, Gulshan
Kumar M., and Shrividya Ramana.

In Bantwal Raghuram Mukunda Prabhu Centenary School Preemal Seema Monis, Sindhu

Baliga, Archana, Raghuram, and Benson got grade point 10.

In Yenepoya School, of the 13 students who answered Class X exams, Asiya Afrah Ismail

got grade point 10.

C. K. Manjunath, principal of Yenepoya School, told reporters that it is difficult to find out if

a student has scored grade point 10 because of marks obtained in their subjects or whether
their grade was upgraded because of marks scored in extra curricular activities. The CBSE
has just introduced the comprehensive and continuing evaluation (CCE) system, he said.
Although several students and teachers do not approve of CCE, it is an excellent way of
assessing a student as it covers all aspects of student achievement.

ICSE Results

St. Theresa’s School, Mangalore, secured 100 per cent results in the ICSE examination. Of

the 77 students who answered their ICSE exams, 53 got distinction, 23 passed in the first
division, and one passed in the second division.

The school topper is Lorraine D’Souza, who scored 96.71 percent.
